When we stayed at Wentworth last week the weather was perfect, warm but not too hot, sunny but not getting sunburnt. Lovely stuff.
The caravan park there is right on the Darling River and if you are a bird lover you would probably be in heaven. The park even has its own bird hide, although I saw no need for it while we were there. You could just take your chair down to the river bank and sit there with a drink and a book, they would pretty much come to you!
Pelicans glided in and out at all hours, ducks and geese, cormorants and heaps of other feathered friends I didn’t know the names of made this stretch of river something of a bird highway. Even during the night, when a riverboat would go past and shine its spotlights into the undergrowth on the other bank indignant birds would go in all directions, annoyed that their nighttime routine had been interrupted.
One evening we took trip down the riverbank for a look and came across this angry hawk(?). It was being terribly harassed by a much smaller, but clearly more determined Noisy Miner. Eventually it gave up on its perch and flew off into the distance, not before I managed to get a few photos, phew!
