If you are a regular reader in my little corner of the blogosphere you might know the lovely David, whose comments always put a smile on my face. Unfortunately, over the weekend I received the sad news that his beloved wife, Julia, had passed away.
Julia had been suffering from cancer for some time, but was lucky enough to have her loving family supporting her through everything, and in these last weeks even managed to go for one last horse ride.
I have never met Julia, but through David’s funny blog posts, and her book, I think we all felt we knew her.
I couldn’t possibly write a blog post that would say anything to make David and his family feel better at this time, but when I saw this article I thought it was entirely appropriate.

(S)He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much, who has gained the respect of intelligent men. and the love of little children: who has left the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who has never lost appreciation of the earth’s beauty or failed to express it: who has always looked for the best in others, and given the best he had; whose life is an inspiration and whose memory a benediction.
