The Star Wars that I used to know.

I found this gem by teddiefilms while I was aimlessly wandering through the interwebs and had to share it with you.

If you are a Star Wars fan you probably greeted the news that there will be more films produced in the series with very mixed feelings. Those original three films have a special place in the heart of many people, but the new ones, not so much…..

This brilliant and hilarious clip, with Anakin/Darth lamenting all those issues* in the style of Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know, had me falling off the couch laughing.

It is a long weekend here in Australia and I will be lazing with the kids on Monday, so I’ll see you on Tuesday. Have a good weekend! 😀

*Anyone who can put the line “then you had my character portrayed by sub-par actors” into a song effectively needs an award. 😀

Star Wars Day.

There will be some of you who don’t really care but tomorrow is Star Wars Day. Why tomorrow you ask? Well, because it is May the Fourth!

The kids have been looking forward to the Star Wars (animated) marathon scheduled to be on tv tomorrow and I might have to sit on the couch with them for the afternoon as well. 😀

Just in case you are one of the few who haven’t seen the Star Wars series (the original one of course, the other one doesn’t really count) here are the three movies compacted into a few minutes. Fortunately it is not snippets of movie, it is in the only other medium that could possibly do Star Wars justice. Lego.

Star Wars fan completes marathon trek.

I don’t usually post on the weekend but when an item of news catches my eye I just have to share it. I did this one earlier but forgot to post it! Ooops…sorry.. 😦 Anyway, I thought you would still want to see it.

I love this guy. We had been following his trek through the news for the last few months and I have nothing but admiration for his determination.

Jacob French walked across Australia in full Stormtrooper costume for charity, finishing on the 9th of April. Yes, walked. Having travelled through many parts of Australia in our air conditioned four-wheel drive I can only imagine what it would have been like for him in a close-fitting plastic suit.

It took him nine months to walk from Perth to Sydney and he did it all for the Starlight Childrens Foundation. He hoped to raise $50,000. He did far better and raised $100,000. My new hero 🙂

Cello Wars. Wonderful instrumental geekiness.

I thought I would share a different bit of music with you today. This clip is often responsible for me exceeding my download limit before the billing period is up as the boys absolutely love it.

For a change I am not going on about Australian music, nor is it a boppy tune that will get you up and moving at work. This time it is one for the Star Wars geeks out there. Needless to say, that describes everyone in this house.

No! Wait! Don’t go! Even if you don’t love Star Wars you may still appreciate it. It is Star Wars music performed in an amusing way by an amazing musician.

If you are not interested listening to in Star Wars have a look at my favourite piece of music by these fantastic guys, Without You , or maybe it is the Cello Song, or maybe…ummm..

Although I am not usually much of an instrumental music fan, the music that these guys create can only be described as art and they clearly love playing it, how can that enjoyment not be contagious?!
