As it is school holidays we are obliged by law to take the kids to the movies. Ok, maybe it isn’t against the law not to but it is a tradition that is best followed.
Usually my mum and dad have a day in the holidays when they take the boys and their younger, and much beloved, cousin E out for the day and see one, but this holidays the boys have had a bonus trip. Yesterday we jumped in the car and took the 30+km drive to the nearest cinema, levering the Man out of work early on the way past to come with us.*
Because it was fairly late in the afternoon we almost had the whole place to ourselves, the best kind of movie watching!
We were doing our best to sit quietly and wait for the show to start when another small group arrived and chose seats a few aisles behind us. Just as they were about to sit down one of the members of their little party said, “We have to get seats with the best acoustics, Sheldon”.
Both of the boys, without hesitation, sat up straight in their seats and let out a loud “Nyah!”. We all dissolved into hysterics and were still doing our best to stifle our laughter when the lights dimmed and the trailers began….
Just in case you are not a Big Bang Theory fan (although I know at least one of you really, really is) here is a clip of what caused our laughter. 😀
*When I went to pay for the tickets I asked for two Adults and two Children. “That’ll be $62 thanks”
Hmmm…. “What about this school holiday discount offer” I asked, indicating the advertising printout plastered to the back of her screen.
“Oh, that is only for one adult and two children” she replied.
I sighed and asked for “One adult, two children and another adult ticket”.
“Oh, Ok. That’ll be $42, thanks” she said.
This is both the reason why we don’t go to the movies very often and another cause to be glad teenaged checkout girls aren’t in charge of the world.
