I expect the statistic G. Howard Hodge is talking about is more of the ‘damned lie’ type of statistic than actual fact.
Hodge is, after all, a millinery stylist, hardly an authority on statistics, and a person whose lifestyle depends on people wanting chic hats. I would love to know where he is getting his statistics from. I suspect that it is less actual research and more possibly along the lines of his own opinion of women in horrible hats.
The Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival proves to me that ugly hats don’t turn blokes off women. If they did, almost the entire millinery industry in Melbourne, whose success depends upon that yearly carnival, would be out of business!
