I did a post the other day about some Northern Territory police getting more than they bargained for at a hens night, so I had to do this similar post about a policeman recently in court after getting into a bit of trouble last year.
This incident will give you an idea about the influence Cold Chisel, one of Australia’s most iconic rock bands, has over bogans those of us who love Aussie rock. Or 80’s rock. Or just music at all, I mean, how could you not love them!
Constable Clarke, who I’m willing to bet is a fan, was escorting Cold Chisel to a concert in Western Australia last year and was caught by a speed camera doing 45kmh over the limit.
Now I’m not condoning this crime, speeding=bad, but really, if you were the cause of Chisel being late for a concert you may well never live it down. People would point and stare in the street. No pub would let you in the door. You would never be able to wear a flannelette shirt again…… 😉
He was fined $1250, plus costs, and lost his license for six months. Other police involved received infringement notices. I wonder if Constable Clarke thought rubbing shoulders with rock and roll royalty was worth it?
Apart from anything else, writing this gave me an excuse to post a clip of one of my favourite Cold Chisel songs and, more importantly, Mr. Barnes in his prime.
Oh Jimmy, where did it all go wrong? Oh, that’s right, all those years of hard partying…. I wonder, does Mrs. Barnes ever pull out the DVD’s and reminisce about the good ol’ days? 😉
