I haven’t done an Australian music post for a while so I thought that I would share a song by the wonderfully versatile Paul Kelly.
Midnight Rain is the perfect song for our weather at the moment, it was sunny today but a thundery change heralding a week of rain is due soon enough.
It is also the perfect song for the end of the weather blog carnival that many of you shared with Bluebird Blvd and I.
What coast are you on? What country?
Is it raining there? Is it morning or midnight?
Are you walking barefoot or have you got your shoes on?
Is there somebody there with you?
Are you talking soft and low underneath the sound
Of the midnight rain, midnight rain?
I just want you to know where ever you are
Where ever you go
I hope you’re under a lucky star
Thanks to those of you who did a weather post, or clicked on the links for a look.

I haven’t heard this one before – I like! And it’s so appropriate as it’s pouring outside.
I thought the rain might hold off until tonight but no, it is pouring here too.
I’m glad you like this song, Paul Kelly always sings a great story, doesn’t he? This is off the Live Apples album. We have the dvd/cd set and it is all great, I really love all of it but a few always make me smile. I’m sticking the sweet ‘When I First Met Your Ma’ here, because it is slightly (very slightly) weather appropriate and because I can’t think of an excuse to do another Paul Kelly post in the near future! I hope you like it
“I walked two miles in Melbourne rain
I could have walked ten more
When I first loved your ma”
Oh thank you! What a great song. I thought it would have a sad ending until the very last line – love flies back again.
I agree! “Love like a bird flies away” is so sad *sniff*
-pat pat-
AWWWWWwwww! Thank you, Metan! This is the perfect way to close out our first blog carnival! It’s so very beautiful.
And now I think I’m going to cry a little bit.
Isn’t it just. I love the way Paul Kelly writes about real things in such a beautiful way. *passes tissue*
I love Paul Kelly, and I love the way you closed out our first carnival. I’ve posted links everywhere to this piece except for maybe my forehead.
Not crying. *Takes tissue* It’s allergies, I tell you. *Dabs at damp eyes* Not this beautiful, beautiful gesture and song. *Dabs eyes again*
: )
